Built around the radio
General-purpose radio pouches are designed to fit several different radio sizes. That flexibility can come with compromises, including extra bulk, blocked controls, inconsistent retention or a radio that sits deeper in the pouch than it needs to.
These holsters take a different approach. Each model is shaped around the body and control layout of the intended radio. The goal is to keep the radio protected and secure while leaving its important controls accessible.
The result is a cleaner way to carry a handheld radio on a plate carrier, chest rig, equipment belt or other compatible gear.
Why We Started the Project
There are plenty of radio pouches available, but fewer fitted options for capable, affordable radios outside the most common military and public-safety models.
Radios such as the Baofeng DM-32, AnyTone D878, BTECH DMR-6X2 and Retevis RT29D offer practical features at accessible prices. Unfortunately, compatible carry equipment has not always kept pace with the radios themselves.
We wanted to close that gap.
Pollux Field Systems supplies the radios, identifies practical requirements and evaluates fit and usability. Sweetgrass Actual turns those requirements into radio-specific holsters made for real-world use.
Development begins with the actual radios—not dimensions pulled from a generic specification sheet.
Designed for Actual Use
The design process considers more than whether the radio simply fits inside the holster. Each model is evaluated around how it will be carried and operated while mounted.
That includes retention during movement, access to push-to-talk and side controls, clearance around antennas and knobs, connected accessories, battery configuration and removal and reinsertion of the radio.
The finished holster should become part of the communications system rather than an obstacle between the user and the radio.

AnyTone AT-D878 / BTECH DMR-6X2
A model-specific carry solution for these closely related, full-featured DMR handhelds.
Retevis RT29 / RT29D
Designed around the larger commercial-style body of the RT29 platform and compatible with both the analog RT29 and digital RT29D.
