BTECH APRS-K2 Audio Cable
The BTECH APRS-K2 provides a simple way to connect a compatible handheld radio to a phone, tablet, or computer for APRS and other audio-based digital applications.
Designed for radios using the common Kenwood-style K2 2-pin accessory connection, the APRS-K2 connects the radio's microphone and speaker audio to a standard 3.5mm TRRS audio connection. This allows a compatible phone, tablet, or computer to function as a software-based TNC using applications such as APRSDroid, aprs.fi, PocketPacket, Rattlegram, and other audio modem software.
The cable incorporates an internal interface circuit designed to properly manage audio levels between the radio and connected device, making it a cleaner and more convenient solution than a basic homemade audio cable.
APRS Without a Dedicated Hardware TNC
When paired with compatible software, the APRS-K2 allows a conventional handheld radio to transmit and receive APRS data without requiring a radio with built-in APRS capability.

For most handheld-radio applications, the radio's VOX function is used to automatically key the transmitter when the connected device sends packet audio.
